Al Bustan Centre & Residence, the popular hotel-apartment among tourists and businessmen in the heart of Dubai, recently hosted a health-talk for its front and back office staff and the senior executives from various departments to generate awareness of the burden of Gastrointestinal Disorders and its causes for the rise in the UAE. The session was held in association with Clinicare Medical Centre, a part of the Novo Healthcare group.
Dr. Samith Alva, Specialist, from Clinicare informed the audience of a number of factors leading to the incidence and prevalence of gastrointestinal disorders which includes stress and obesity especially in the UAE. Other contributors to the rising scenario included unhealthy lifestyle, overeating and lack of physical activity. He stressed on the importance of educating and creating more public awareness on this issue to curtail this lifestyle disease.
About two out of every 10 people in the UAE suffer from diseases of the gastro-intestinal tract, which is an alarming figure. Leading an unhealthy lifestyle can create an imbalance in physical and mental health of a human being. Hence, it is absolutely necessary to broaden our understanding about gastrointestinal disorders and steps to be taken to start the appropriate solutions.
