Acura NSX.. The Evolution of a Japanese Legend

Precision Crafted Performance, few words that accompanied Acura's name in the launch of the first NSX 28 years ago, when it was presented to the world at The Chicago Auto Show in February, 1989.

Two years later, the NSX hit showrooms as a 1991 model with mid-mounted 270-hp VTEC 3.0-liter V6 engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox, rear-drive coupe made almost exclusively of aluminum.

In 1995, NSX-T arrived with a removable targa-style roof panel and an optional 4-speed automatic.

Later, a 1997 model was produced as an upgrade with a 3.2 liter 290-hp engine and a 6-speed manual gearbox.

After that, it was absent until 2005 when it was renovated under the model title NSX-R GT with fixed headlamps, restyled front and rear valances, and suspension tweaks. Only 5 of those were produced for an approximate price of 500,000$ per unit, then NSX production was suspended.

A completely redesigned 2016 Acura NSX was revealed at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, ready to challenge the best from Europe and Japan.

Respecting the core characteristics of the original NSX, the 2017 Acura NSX took the essence of the original car with next generation technologies to create a New Sports experience.

It consists of twin-turbo 3.5-liter 573-hp V-6 engine that works in tandem with a three-motor hybrid system and a 9-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission to deliver acceleration the moment you hit the pedal.

The Sport Hybrid All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system allows the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (60 mph) in 3.0 seconds and reach a top speed of approximately 308 km/h (191 mph) while giving the driver an enhanced feeling of confidence.
